ideas

Personalizing your Outer Banks wedding ceremony and reception will set you apart from every other wedding that you may have seen or attended. Choose ideas carefully, so that they will reflect your personalities and also the style of your Outer Banks wedding. They should also be easy to orchestrate and fit within your budget.

    1) Flip Flops

Oceanfront weddings can be difficult for guests who may have "over dressed". This bride provided the tub of flip-flops for guests to change their footwear if desired before walking on the sand.

    2) Sea Shell tables instead of table numbers

Looking for a unique and fun way of providing table assignments for guests at their daughter's wedding, the parents researched the names of interesting shaped seashells and used these names instead of table numbers. Each guest picked up their place card/table assignment along with a seashell and went to the table that was also decorated with that particular shell, helping to make it easy to identify. Table numbers were not missed, and many interesting friendships were made while discussing the types of shells. (Image from old site with shells on the table)

    3) Candy Bar

A candy bar is a great interactive station for guests. Include coffee mugs, plastic bags, or Chinese take out boxes to allow guests plenty of opportunity to pick and choose their favorite candies. If possible, keep candy bar in climate controlled area to prevent melting or stickiness from occurring.

    4) Remember your Parents and Grandparents

~ Include their wedding photos on your guest register table, with their names and wedding dates
~ As you,  the bride and groom, recess from the ceremony, stop and pay tribute to parents and/or grandparents before continuing down the aisle.
~ Have a surprise dance for your parents at the reception and try to use the song that they danced to on their wedding day.

    5) Make a statement and Go Green

Instead of giving party favors, donate to your favorite cause and provide information at your guest register table or at each dining table, about your cause. Learn more at www.idofoundation.org
